Date: 2010-05-05 Location: Oroville, Butte County >> Class Full Date: 2010-10-05 Location: Bakersfield, Kern County >> Enroll Here Tuition: $338 POST Plan IV / STC $294 Days: Three Days - 24 Hours Internal Affairs Basic Course This 3 day / 24 Hour course is designed to give the Investigator who has been newly assigned to Internal Affairs duties a comprehensive overview of the organization and design of Internal Affairs Investigations. This course should also be attended by anyone newly assigned to supervising Internal Affairs investigations or assigned to handle complaints of misconduct by agency members. This course is certified by both POST and STC. Topics Covered: Role and Purpose of Internal Affairs Examining Conduct / Defining Discipline Risk and Liability Assessment Resources for the IA Investigator The Peace Officer Bill Of Rights Due Process / Department Labor Agreements Investigative Plans / Investigation Components Producing Complete Investigations Interviews: Complainants, Witnesses and Employees Planning and Controlling the Interrogation Related Legal Issues: Pitchess, Skelley, etc. The students will participate in a practical exercise profiling a complete Internal Affairs investigation. |
